Installing Codistry

Set up Codistry in Visual Studio Code and start working securely with AI.

Privacy First

Codistry is a privacy-first AI coding assistant designed to accelerate development without exposing your source code.

All processing happens through the providers you configure. Your data remains fully under your control.

Installation Steps

1. Open the Extensions View

In VS Code, open the Extensions panel from the sidebar or press Ctrl+Shift+X (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+X (Mac).

2. Search for Codistry

In the Extensions search bar, type Codistry and select the official extension.

3. Install the Extension

Click Install on the Codistry page. VS Code will automatically download and install the extension.

4. Verify Installation

After installation, the Codistry icon appears in the VS Code sidebar. Click the icon to open the Agent panel and confirm installation.

Codistry is ready to use. Continue to account setup to connect your AI provider.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Cannot find Codistry in the Marketplace

Confirm you are searching in the Extensions panel and have an active internet connection. Reload the view or restart VS Code if needed.

Extension does not appear after installation

Reload VS Code by pressing Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+P (Mac), then select Reload Window.

Installation errors or failures

Ensure VS Code version 1.93 or later is installed and that your network connection is stable.

Conflicts with other AI extensions

If you use other AI coding assistants, try disabling them temporarily to verify Codistry works correctly.
